Curriculum Intent
At Tintwistle Primary School, our curriculum is designed to be active, inclusive and child centred, ensuring every learner is seen, heard and valued. Rooted in the National Curriculum yet enriched far beyond it, our provision is fun, purposeful and cross curricular, enabling children to make meaningful links in their learning and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
We are proud of a curriculum that is reflective of our children and their community, drawing on local heritage, environment and culture to make learning truly relevant. Through our well-established Forest School pupils learn holistically developing, confidence and collaboration as they explore, question and connect with nature.
Our curriculum is driven by our Christian Values and aims to lay solid foundations for later learning, encouraging deeper thinking and fostering curiosity. We strive to be a school that is truly bothered: bothered about learning, bothered about children’s wellbeing, their future opportunities, and their ability to make a positive difference.
We are committed to integrating social and environmental awareness throughout our curriculum so that children become responsible, informed citizens. Opportunities for critical thinking and social action—such as local clean-up projects, water conservation efforts and community partnerships empower pupils to understand the impact they can have and to take pride in improving their world.
Above all, our curriculum is aspirational. It supports every child to flourish academically, socially and emotionally, preparing them not only for the next stage of their education but for life as compassionate, confident individuals who are ready to shape the future.
