At Tintwistle CE Primary School, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education is central to nurturing happy, healthy, and responsible individuals. We use the comprehensive PSHE Matters scheme, a structured framework that allows children to systematically build critical life concepts at age-appropriate levels from Nursery through to Year 6.
Our curriculum focuses on three core themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World. We teach PSHE to equip children with the essential skills, knowledge, and emotional literacy needed to navigate life's opportunities and challenges safely. Through structured lessons, pupils learn to understand emotions, form respectful friendships, and make healthy choices. Fully integrated within this curriculum, our statutory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) content safely equips pupils to build healthy, respectful relationships and value diversity.
Our PSHE provision fosters resilience, empathy, and deep social responsibility. Guided by our school values, we ensure all children grow in confidence, learn to manage risk, and understand their place as compassionate, active citizens. Ultimately, we prepare our pupils to make a positive impact in both their local community and the modern world.
