PE Curriculum

At Tintwistle, our PE teaching provides a loving, inclusive and nurturing environment where every unique child can discover their individual gifts and talents. Guided by our Christian values, our intent is to cultivate physical literacy alongside crucial emotional and creative thinking skills. Through the comprehensive Get Set 4 PE platform, we foster a lifelong love for movement, encouraging children to approach physical challenges with courage and perseverance so they may flourish socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Our PE curriculum is implemented through a progressive, whole-child approach that explicitly connects physical competency with positive learning behaviours, developing our social, emotional and thinking skills. We utilize structured, sequential lesson pathways that develop fundamental movement skills—agility, balance, and coordination—from Early Years up to Year 6. Christian values like respect, kindness, and compassion are woven directly into team building and gameplay, allowing pupils to learn safely from mistakes. We champion cooperative learning alongside healthy competition, allowing every individual voice to matter.

Our pupils leave primary school as resilient, confident, and physically capable sportspersons. Children develop an enduring respect for themselves, others, and their overall well-being. Armed with robust teamwork and communication skills, they grow into courageous individuals ready to make a positive contribution to the wider community.
